Booked Up 2011 - Update!
Did you know that all Year 7 students at Hope Valley College (and throughout the country) are being offered a free book to keep? Most have now collected theirs, but a few are still waiting in the library for students to collect.
Booked Up’s goal is to encourage reading for pleasure and independent choice. Year 7 students choose their free book from a list of specially selected titles and during their English lessons in the Library. They have been introduced to the 12 books and their authors to help them choose the right book for them. Students will be expected to read and review their Booked Up choice as part of their Bronze level Reading Challenge which is being launched for all Year 7s during the next couple of weeks. Booked Up is supported by children’s book publishers, run by the independent charity Booktrust and funded by the Department for Education. Since it was launched in 2007, Booked Up has given a free book to over 2.5 million children in England.
