Full Inspections

Hope Valley College was last inspected in early July 2008. A snapshot of the report is reproduced below, and the full report is also available to download.

"Hope Valley is a good and improving college. It provides a high quality curriculum for students of all abilities, interests and talents. Strong teamwork, good leadership, commitment and hard work ensure that students experience a vibrant education that contributes greatly to above average standards, good progress and personal development.

In 2007, the number of students gaining five or more higher GCSE passes, including English and mathematics, was well above average. A key feature of this success was the high proportion of top A* and A grades.

The college is friendly and inclusive. A high priority is set on developing the whole student, as indicated by outstanding levels of care, support and guidance.

The college has a strong impact on the personal development and well-being of its students, and is highly regarded by the community in this respect. Students say they feel safe and valued. They know how to stay healthy, and participate in many sporting and performance activities. Widespread involvement in drama productions and music performances successfully promote community spirit and a sense of belonging. Attitudes to learning are good and this reflects the positive relationships they enjoy with their peers and staff. Cases of bullying are rare and students have confidence that staff will address any concerns expressed. Students enjoy college life and are enthusiastic about the increasing range of opportunities and experiences."

Hope Valley College Inspection Report 2008

The College was previously inspected between 15 and 18 March 2004. On that occasion the Ofsted report concluded that

"Hope Valley College is a very good college; it provides a very good quality of education for its students and is a happy, harmonious community of learners. The college is an orderly place in which to learn because the very good leadership of the principal and other key staff, well supported by governors, has ensured that all students, including those with special educational needs and those designated as gifted and talented, achieve very well. Teaching and learning are very good in all years, and there is much that is excellent. The college provides very good value for money."
