Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Hope Valley College. We are a small rural comprehensive school of about 580 students, mostly aged 11 - 16, in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, England. We also have a small number of 16-19 students in our Post 16 centre - Hope Valley Pathways. The College has also traditionally been a focus of community daytime and evening learning.

Many of our daytime students and their families live in rurally isolated villages scattered throughout the
Hope Valley and in the neighbouring communities. Public transport is poor and transport in all forms can be difficult in winter.

In September 2011 we became an Academy. This move was debated vigorously and widely amongst the staff and parents before we made the decision. We believe this status will give us the power to continue to innovate and improve the education of our students and conditions for staff.
We are committed to working collaboratively with the Academies network, our partner Primary schools, local Secondary schools (through our membership of Peak 11) and the wider community to enrich the educational opportunities available for all.

The ethos of the College is one of mutual respect between staff and students. The Student Council are routinely involved in staff appointments and the creation of relevant College policies. They will be happy to receive This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   from other similar student organisations across the world. Staff have high expectations of the students. High quality pastoral care underpins and supports their learning.

I hope you enjoy your visit!
