5 members of staff from Hope Valley College have been letting their facial hair grow wild for Movember.
Martin Barnes, Ian Bailey, Paul Flinton, Ryan Jones and Tim Ryan all left their moustaches untouched by a razor blade for the duration of November/Movember to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
But the boys didn't just stop at not shaving their tash's, they also got creative shaping the left behind whiskers into interesting, bizarre and entertaining shapes.
Mr. Barnes said: "The Prostate Cancer Charity does a lot of work to not only help support men with prostate cancer but also raise awareness of the disease. Surveys suggest that men are less likely to get themselves regular health checks than women and prostate cancer is much easier to cure the sooner it is caught - so the work the charity does to raise awareness is critical. The work the Prostate Cancer Charity does is worth supporting and that's why we all felt it an important cause to raise money for as well as have a bit of a laugh at the same time."
Movember is an international event which takes place annually in November. Everybody taking part starts clean shaven on the 1st of November then have the rest of the month to grow and groom their facial hair to raise money. Each participant then becomes a walking billboard to raise awareness of issues surrounding men's health. Last year Movember raised £30 million globally for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Mr Barnes added: "All five of us want to raise as much money as possible. We are close to reaching our target so if you see the pictures and feel like donating you can do so by going to http://uk.movember.com/mospace/233839. We all had a really good laugh whilst raising money - and personally speaking I'd be happy to do it again IF my wife will let me!"
Principal Bernie Hunter said: "It is great to see our staff showing team spirit and setting a great example to our students in terms of doing small things to raise money for charity. Seeing the different trims and cuts has certainly provided the staff room with much entertainment but on a serious note it is important that men look after their health and it is a credit to everybody who took part in Movember that they took it upon themselves to help promote awareness of that."
