This week's assemblies were about Artificial Intelligence. We looked at the potential benefits and the negatives which could come from using AI. We talked about how you will miss out on learning if you chose to use AI to help you complete homework: the point of the work is to learn from it, rather than just to avoid a consequence. More information about homework and learning in Maths is attached to this email for your reference. 

What’s going on in school?

• On February 4^th Year 9 students welcomed a second-generation Holocaust survivor, Tim Mulroy, as part of a visit organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET). Tim is the son of Holocaust survivor; Hans Kohn and he talked to the students about his family's experiences of the Kindertransport to Britain as well as those who sadly didn't manage to escape before the war. The students were engaged and brilliantly behaved throughout. Tim's talk was really interesting and provoked many thoughtful questions from students. We hope to welcome him again in the future.

• Students have been taking part in the Duolingo streak competition for MFL. Students need to email a photo of their Duolingo stats to Mr Barnes, so that he can update his records. Prizes will be awarded later in the year.

 

• KS3 students in Mam Tor took their turn in our interhouse rowing competition this week. Next week. Win Hill will have their go next Thursday and then the scores will be counted!

 

• Our Easter Showcase music and drama extravaganza is taking place on Wednesday 25^th March. Please put this date in your diaries. More information will follow soon, including ticket sales.
